Inside the save folder, the numeric subfolder is the one worth copying.
A backup routine that takes two minutes
- Exit to a safe point and make a manual save if the option is available.
- Close the game normally and wait for the platform client to finish its save upload.
- Copy the entire save folder, not just one file, to a dated folder on another drive or a cloud folder you control.
- Name the backup by platform, chapter, and date, such as

If a conflict appears, compare the date and time of console storage and cloud storage before choosing. Xbox and other platform cloud services follow the same sensible rule: let the upload complete, then move to the other device.
Before a patch or offline session
A backup is most useful before the moment you think you will need one. Make one before a patch, before experimenting with a new save, and before reconnecting after a long offline session. When you go back online, let the game and the platform finish their normal checks before you rush through a sync prompt. It is a dull habit right up until it saves a forty-hour file.
