Pick the problem first, then the gear. This planner recommends build directions based on your next objective, weapon comfort, combat style, and experience level. It is meant to guide decisions before opening the full Build Index or Weapon Compare page.
Boss Learning Build
A forgiving setup for learning boss rhythm without locking yourself into slow recovery.
Weapon fit: Glenmore Sword, Sword of the Wolf, Sydmon Sword, Grace Rapier
Armor priority: Favor steady defense and mobility over one extreme resistance.
Support plan: Carry one reliable heal or food option and save burst tools for phase changes.
- Block or step out first, punish second.
- Change only one gear slot after a failed attempt.
- Use ranged testing at the start, then commit to melee once the pattern is readable.
Stagger Breaker Build
For bosses or armored targets that leave clear punish windows after heavy attacks.
Weapon fit: Dekarr Greataxe, Bekker Greathammer, Thalwynd Warhammer, Absolute Justice Greatsword
Armor priority: Accept slower movement only if the fight gives you predictable punish windows.
Support plan: Bring stamina or recovery support so one missed swing does not end the attempt.
- Do not chase every opening.
- Wait for the full enemy recovery before swinging.
- Use this build when stagger matters more than chip damage.
Reach Control Build
Keeps dangerous enemies at a readable distance during open routes and multi-enemy pressure.
Weapon fit: Flame Spear, Sydmon Spear, Bamboo Spear, Bonepit Halberd
Armor priority: Balance mobility with enough defense to survive one bad spacing read.
Support plan: Carry route safety items rather than pure boss burst.
- Use the first hit to measure distance.
- Back out before enemies surround you.
- Good for routes where vision and terrain matter.
Quest Runner Build
A fast cleanup setup for errands, side routes, and objectives where time matters more than burst.
Weapon fit: Bekker Dagger, Sydmon Dagger, Varnian Dagger, White Wind Rapier
Armor priority: Keep movement comfortable. Do not overbuild for one fight if the route is mostly travel.
Support plan: Carry light recovery and map-route notes; avoid slow heavy gear.
- Skip unnecessary trades.
- Use fast recovery to reset bad angles.
- Pair with Quest Checklist before leaving the hub.
Ranged Scout Build
A safe route-reading setup for testing enemy spacing, weak points, and camp layouts.
Weapon fit: Bekker Bow, Grey Wolf Bow, Sydmon Bow, White Wood Bow
Armor priority: Use enough defense to survive being caught while repositioning.
Support plan: Carry one melee fallback; ranged scouting is not the whole fight plan.
- Open from range, then decide whether to commit.
- Use terrain to create clean sight lines.
- Great before entering an unfamiliar area.
Burst Finisher Build
Uses firearms or heavy ranged tools to punish short, high-value windows.
Weapon fit: Jemel Pistol, Spencer Pistol, Metilbahm Shotgun, Orc Blaster
Armor priority: Do not sacrifice all safety; burst builds punish you hard when timing slips.
Support plan: Save burst tools for exposed phases or stagger follow-ups.
- Hold your shot until the window is real.
- Pair with a melee weapon that handles mistakes.
- Better as a planned answer than a default route build.
Farming Comfort Build
A repeatable material-route setup that avoids downtime and keeps inventory runs clean.
Weapon fit: Sword of the Lord, Glenmore Sword, Lambert Axe, Wells Mace
Armor priority: Favor comfort, carry capacity habits, and route consistency over maximum damage.
Support plan: Bring route-specific recovery and stop once the loop becomes messy.
- Pick one material goal.
- Start near a safe reset point.
- The best farming build is the one you can repeat without thinking too much.
Arena Pressure Build
For contained fights where steady pressure and quick target switching matter.
Weapon fit: Lambert Axe, Silver Wolf Axe, Melted Ambition, Wolf’s Fang
Armor priority: Choose armor that lets you take one trade while staying aggressive.
Support plan: Use food or support that helps maintain tempo.
- Win space first.
- Do not tunnel on one enemy if the arena adds pressure.
- Use stagger tools after the enemy commits.
Planner Notes
- For first attempts, prioritize safety and recovery over maximum damage.
- For repeat attempts, change only one build variable at a time so you know what helped.
- For farming or quests, comfort and travel speed usually beat a boss-only damage setup.
- Use Weapon Compare when you need to choose between weapon families.
